A Brussels historical tapestry, attributed to Martin Reynbouts, late 16th century. From the Story of Scipio series, the renowned Roman general; a royal couple conveying honors upon Scipio, who kneels respectfully at left, expressing their appreciation for his courage in the wars in Carthage and Hispania, and for returning their daughter unharmed. Enclosed within an elaborate border of Game Park scenes, birds, the Gods of Olympus, and allegorical figures. Wool with silk inlay.
