A Brussels biblical tapestry from the late 16th century, attributed to Jan (Ian) Raes, depicting Moses at right, with Joshua kneeling before him in the sophisticatedly rendered central field. Enclosed by a wide primary border featuring meticulously drawn allegorical vignettes, with a blue outer slip having the Brussels town mark. Wool with silk inlay. Size is 11.0H x 8.5W. Excellent condition. A rare find, and an amazing addition to a large home, a house of worship, or a museum!
