Sofreh

A sofreh is a type of flatwoven textile used by Persian nomadic and village groups as a ceremonial or utilitarian cloth, often for food preparation or presentation. These textiles are typically woven in rectangular formats and decorated with geometric patterns and symbolic motifs. Sofrehs are an important part of Persian tribal textile traditions. Sofreh is a Farsi (Persian) term for tablecloth. Any small blanket or cover. More specifically, a small flatwoven cloth to be laid on the ground, on which the food is prepared or served. Many examples have woven borders with a flatweave center.
