Pazyryk Carpet

The Pazyryk Carpet is considered the oldest known pile carpet in the world, dating to approximately the 5th century BCE. It was discovered in a frozen tomb in the Pazyryk Valley of Siberia and is now preserved in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. The carpet displays complex geometric and animal motifs, indicating a highly developed weaving tradition at an early date. This carpet was discovered in 1949 in a princely Scythian Tomb in the Pazyryk Valley, at the heart of Central Asia
