Mudjur

Mudjur rugs are Anatolian carpets woven in the Mudjur (Mucur) region of central Turkey, near Kirsehir. These rugs often feature prayer rug designs, geometric motifs, and bright natural colors, typical of Anatolian village weaving traditions. Mudjur carpets are appreciated for their decorative patterns and regional character. The town of Mudjur is located in Central Anatolia, close to Kirshehir. Prayer rugs from Mudjur have the richest palette of all Anatolian rugs, and resemble the very fine Caucasian rugs. Patterns and motifs are strictly geometrical. The most common style is created with an open field, usually red, and a very colorful yellow ground border.
