Mafrash

A mafrash is a type of flatwoven storage bag made by nomadic and tribal groups, particularly in Persia and the Caucasus. It is typically constructed in a rectangular or box-like form and used for storing bedding, clothing, and household items during travel. Mafrash pieces are often decorated with geometric patterns and tribal motifs. They are an important part of nomadic weaving traditions and daily life. A flat-woven bag in a form of a box, used to contain bedding. Often they considered as cradles but it is not a correct asumtion. The Marash is usually made in a kilim weave and sometimes in a Soumac weave. Being more rare the Soumac weave type is more in demand by collectors.

Mafrash were being made by Shahsavan, Afshar and some Kurd
