Lilian

Lilian rugs are Persian village carpets woven in the Hamadan region of western Iran, particularly in villages near Malayer. These rugs often feature floral designs, medallions, and soft color palettes, sometimes influenced by Sarouk patterns. Lilian carpets became especially popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for export markets. Lilian is the name of a town in Iran south of Arak. These rugs and carpets are very similar to Sarouks, just less busy and mostly with lighter shades of blue. The construction is slightly different therefore the feeling of a Lilian is softer than a Sarouk. The same as in a Sarouk these rugs were mostly painted originally and now stripped.
