Leaders of the World rugs refer to a group of pictorial carpets depicting notable historical or political figures. These rugs are typically produced in workshop settings and reflect the use of carpets as decorative and commemorative art objects. They represent a departure from traditional geometric and floral designs toward more narrative imagery. This is a group of rugs depicting the images of various leaders and kings. These subjects contained mainly Persian kings and mythological figures along with images of prophets and international famous dignitaries. The names of the figures are cardiographed in the border as well as in the field. In most cases the rugs were made in Lavar Kirman but there are similar type rugs from Kashan area. These rugs are also known as Mashahekhin rugs (Dignitaries rugs)
