Kula

Kula rugs are woven in the Kula region of western Anatolia, Turkey. These carpets are particularly known for their prayer rug designs, soft color palettes, and elegant compositions. Kula rugs are valued for their subtle beauty and represent a refined branch of Anatolian carpet weaving. The town of Kula is located in between Izmir and Oushak, south of Ghiordes. Most Kula rugs are made in prayer designs and very finely, therefore many times confused with Ghiordes rugs. In general the wool used in Kula rugs is more lustrous and the color pallet somehow differs from typical Ghiordes rugs.
