Oriental Rugs Dictionary

Some of the finest Caucasian rugs were made in Kuba. Kuba rugs frequently have stepped warp threads, both ends of the fringe are cut and sometimes knotted, and often the band of kilim at either end is strengthened with wool or cotton in Soumac stitch.

Rugs in Kuba group have a low pile with medium to fine density knotting and are generally rich, heavy, and dense. Patterns are more senious, and many rugs have kufesque borders and trailing tendril motifs.
