Khamseh

Khamseh is a group of 5 tribes inhabiting southwest Persia. The actual names of the tribes are Arab, Nafar, Ainalu, Baharlu and Baseri. The Arabs are the larger tribes and therefore most of the rug production is attributed to them. Generally, yarns used by the Khamseh are more coarsely spun than those of Qashqai.

Khamseh designs are often all over patterns of geometricized florets and animals, usually birds, scattered in a random manner over the field.
