Joshegan

Joshegan rugs are woven in the Joshegan region of central Iran, located between Isfahan and Kashan. These carpets are well known for their distinctive geometric lattice designs filled with stylized floral motifs, often arranged in an all-over repeating pattern. Joshegan rugs are among the most recognizable Persian village carpets due to their unique and consistent design structure. A town in north central Iran, south of Kashan. Rugs have been woven in Joshegan since 18 Century. The design for which Joshegan is famed is an all over lozenge pattern, each lozenge consisting of a geometricized floral motif. This design may include a small medallion and spandrels. The design has been widely copied.
