Oriental Rugs Dictionary

Ezine

Ezine refers to carpets woven in the Ezine region of western Anatolia, Turkey, near the town of Çanakkale. These rugs belong to the broader group of Anatolian village carpets and often feature bold geometric patterns, stylized floral motifs, and strong natural colors typical of Turkish tribal weaving traditions. Ezine rugs reflect the rich carpet-weaving heritage of western Anatolia. Ezine carpets bear the name of a village 30 Miles south of Chanakkale on the road to Bergama. Since generally these rugs are very finely woven, often they are mistaken for a Bergama rug.
