The Crivelli Rug is a historic oriental carpet preserved in the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest. The rug is associated with the painter Carlo Crivelli, whose paintings depict carpets of similar design, helping scholars identify the style and period of this type of carpet. Such examples are valuable references for the study of early oriental carpets represented in European art. Fifteenth and sixteenth-century rugs of Anatolia with large sixteen-pointed star medallions. These medallions are segmented, with segments containing stylized animal images. Rugs with this design were painted by the Venetian, Carlo Crivelli, in 1482 and 1486.
