Cloudband
Cloudband is a decorative motif consisting of curving, ribbon-like cloud forms.
This design originated in Chinese art and later appeared in carpets produced in regions influenced by Chinese decorative traditions, including Central Asia and the Caucasus.
In some Kazak rugs, stylized cloudband motifs are incorporated into geometric patterns.
Before research allowed the attribution of rugs to an individual village or area, most loosely woven Caucasian rugs with low knot counts were classified as Kazaks.
