Chessboard Rugs

The chessboard design is a decorative pattern found in Chinese and Tibetan carpets, consisting of alternating squares arranged in a grid similar to a chessboard. This geometric layout creates a balanced and visually striking field pattern. Any design of offset rows of adjacent rectangles, each rectangle alternating in color with vertical columns of rectangles, also alternating in color. This design could be found in Chinese and Tibetan rugs. Generally these rugs are borderless.
