Braided Carpet Braided carpets are floor coverings made by braiding strips of fabric or yarn and sewing the braids together to form a larger surface. This technique differs from traditional carpet weaving because the structure is created by assembling braided strands rather than weaving knots on a loom. Braided carpets have been produced in various regions, particularly in North America and parts of Europe, where they were often made from recycled fabric strips. The finished carpets typically display oval or circular patterns formed by the continuous braiding process. Although not part of the traditional oriental carpet weaving tradition, braided carpets represent an important form of folk textile craftsmanship.
