Bordjaloo kazak

The town of Bordjaloo is located south of Tiflis and the rugs from this town are considered as Kazaks.

Not as in most Kazaks cases, these rugs are distinguished mostly by the unique zigzag shaped borders. The Bordjaloo are not known as finely woven Kazaks but because of their rarity are favored by collectors.

It is believed that the weavers of the area are descendents of tribe people deported by Shah Abas from the Hamadan district of Iran, in the 17 Century, but there is no resemblance at all between these Kazaks and the Bordjaloo rugs of the Hamadan district.
