Azerbaijan Embroidery

Azerbaijan embroidery refers to traditional embroidered textiles produced in the Azerbaijan region of the Caucasus. These decorative textiles often feature bright colors, geometric patterns, and stylized floral motifs. Embroidery has long been an important part of domestic textile production in the region and was commonly used to decorate garments, household textiles, and ceremonial objects. There is a group of Azerbaijan embroidery dating back to the 17 Century. Primarily from the Northern Azerbaijan. The foundation fabric is cotton and the embroidery is in most cases silk. Often, these embroideries have a squarish format. they were usually used as a kerchief. Most designs are are similar to those of early Caucasian rugs. Designs of many 19 Century rugs were influenced by these embroideries.
