Angora refers to a soft and lustrous fiber traditionally obtained from the Angora goat, more commonly known today as mohair. The name originates from Angora (modern Ankara), Turkey, where the fiber was historically produced. Because of its silky appearance and strength, Angora fiber has been used in various textiles and occasionally in carpets. However, it is more commonly associated with luxury fabrics and garments rather than traditional oriental rug weaving.
