Akstafa

Akstafa refers to rugs woven in the Akstafa region of the Caucasus, located in present-day western Azerbaijan near the Armenian border. These rugs belong to the broader Kazak rug group and typically display bold geometric medallions, large-scale motifs, and vibrant colors such as red, blue, and ivory. Akstafa rugs reflect the strong tribal design traditions of the Caucasus and are closely related to other Kazak weaving centers.
