Aksaray

Aksaray is a historic weaving center in central Anatolia (Turkey) with a carpet-weaving tradition dating back to the Seljuk period (13th century). Early Aksaray carpets are considered among the oldest known Anatolian carpets. These rugs typically feature bold geometric patterns, stylized floral motifs, and strong color contrasts, reflecting the early development of Anatolian carpet design. Carpets from this region played an important role in the evolution of the Anatolian weaving tradition.
