Ahar

Ahar is a weaving town located in northwest Iran in the Azerbaijan region, near the well-known rug centers of Heriz and Karaja. Rugs produced in Ahar typically belong to the broader Heriz weaving tradition, characterized by bold geometric medallions, angular floral motifs, and durable construction. These carpets often feature strong reds, blues, and ivory tones. Because of their sturdy structure and striking geometric patterns, Ahar rugs are valued as practical and decorative examples of northwest Persian weaving.
