Crivelli Rug

Fifteenth and sixteenth-century rugs of Anatolia with large sixteen-pointed star medallions. These medallions are segmented, with segments containing stylized animal images. Rugs with this design were painted by the Venetian, Carlo Crivelli, in 1482 and 1486. An example is his painting "Annunciation" in the National Gallery, London.
