Marasali is the name of a village south of Shemakha in the Shirvan region of the Caucasus.  Most rugs of Marasali were made in a prayer design and repeated colorful paisley designs, in the field as well in the border.  Good Marasali rugs of the 19 Century are very rare to be found and therefore highly in demand by collectors.
