Daghestan is the name of a region in the Caucasus that includes the town of Derbend. Most of the old rugs of this type were made in a prayer design with an all over lattice design pattern. The mid or early 19 century items very extremely finely woven, often with silk weft and few silk flowers. The name Daghestan means “Land of Mountains”
