ORIENTAL RUGS DICTIONARY

Ames Picturial Carpet

 

 

This Mughal carpet, a gift of Mrs. F. L. Ames, is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  It shows scenes from the hunt, domestic scenes and mytological beasts.  The border includes grotesque faces.  This rug is thought to be a copy of a painting.  It was woven in the first half of the 17 Century and is the size is Apx. 8x5 Ft.
